Our wildlife habitat includes deserts, grasslands, forests and mountainous terrain and provides a truly unique opportunity to hunt a wide variety of species during the fall and winter of the year. Elevations range from under 3,000 feet in the southeast corner of the state to Wheeler Peak at over 13,000 feet. Although our climate is typically mild and sunny, hunters should be prepared for climate extremes at any time. A New Mexico hunt is likely to present the hunter with extremes of both heat and cold, often on the same day. With harsh terrain and vast expanses thrown into the mix, hunters should plan and prepare carefully to ensure a safe and enjoyable hunting experience!
